Hypnosis is an alter state of
mind which allows you to access your unconscious mind where you are able to
face any problem (bad habit or stress etc). In a normal state of mind,
our brain is simultaneously processing everything that we see and hear, so dealing
with problems and issues is very hard.
When you are in state of
hypnosis, your issue and its solution is what your brain concentrates on.
Once out of hypnosis you will have the resources to face those problems and you
will be very positive.
To
explain hypnotherapy or hypnosis, I use sleeping and dreaming as example.

Sleeping
|
Hypnosis
|
|
You are tired and feeling sleepy
|
When hypnotherapist starts the
work with his client, he helps the client to relax with using his voice and/or music in the background
|
|
Your eyes become heavy but you are
still aware of your surroundings i.e. bed, other noises etc
|
The client can hear the therapist’s voice and/or
music and the client's eyes start to become heavy
|
|
You might notice your breathing
changing from deep to shallow
|
This is confirmation for the
therapist that the client is in light trance and on their way to deep hypnotic
state
|
|
Your eyes are heavy and you start
to drift away into sleep
|
At this stage in hypnosis, the client is relaxed
enough that their conscious mind is not thinking, processing any worries or
daily concerns
This is called ‘Light
Trance’
|
|
You have gone to sleep and you are
not aware of your bed/sofa etc
|
The client is now in state of deep trance/hypnosis i.e. mind
becomes so relaxed that nothing worries the client
|
|
You are seeing a dream
|
Hypnotherapist uses collected information to
start his work (making changes using different techniques)
|
|
You are not in control of your
dream
|
The therapist keeps the client’s
mind on track with the issue in hand.
It is possible and does happen that the client is not aware of what is
being said, but their sub/unconscious mind is doing all the work
|
|
You either see a good dream or bad
dream
|
The hypnotherapist keeps the client on a good
dream. In case of a bad episode or part
of life emerges, the therapist is able to identify and helps the client to get
out of it/deal with it/change environment
|
|
Some time you go from deep sleep
to light sleep or even wake up
|
It does happen under hypnosis when
the client might go from deep hypnosis to light trance. We have two choices, either help the client
to go back into deep hypnosis if more work needs doing or keep the client in
light trance
|
|
Morning is arriving and your mind
clock tells you to wake up
|
Once the work has been done, the hypnotherapist
brings the client back into the room with the help of count or other
techniques
|
|
You are awake and aware of your
surroundings
|
The client is fully awake and out
of hypnosis. Hypnotherapist does a test in
some cases to make sure s/he is awake though face expression and other
non-verbal communication makes us aware of it
|
Definitions:
Hypnosis Alter state of mind allowing
the client to make the changes
Conscious mind Everything we do, read, learn and
decisions we make are on conscious level. It is our conscious mind which holds
the ‘fear’ and manipulates our mind to block
Sub/unconscious
mind I would say that
sub/unconscious mind is your true, honest and best friend
Light
trance Client being aware of
her/his surrounding but in relaxed state
Deep hypnosis Conscious mind is sleeping and the
un/subconscious mind listening, processing information and making sense of what
is being said
Issues I prefer to use word ‘Issue’ instead of ‘Problem’. The word
‘Problem’ in my understanding, is a conditioning word = hard, difficult, might
not be possible, failure and fear. So I ask you to change the word ‘Problem’
with ‘Issue’. Issue is not so scary word and it gives us the hope = hope of
possibilities, can do attitude and failure doesn’t sound as scary
